Specializing in issues relating to the design and performance of disability compensation systems
and incentives for disability prevention, Dr. Hunt recently served as a subject matter expert for Federal Employees Compensation Act
(FECA) Program Effectiveness Study, conducted for the Office of Workers' Compensation Programs, U.S. Department of Labor, by ICF
Consulting, under GSA Contract Schedule GS-23F 8182H. As a result, he was invited to testify before the House Committee on Education
and the Workforce, Subcommittee on Workforce Protections in May 2004.
He is also Vice-Chair of the Workers' Compensation Steering Committee of the National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI). As chair of a NASI subcommittee researching the adequacy of wage-replacement benefits in workers' compensation programs in the United States, Dr. Hunt is the editor and a major contributor to the NASI book, Adequacy of Earnings Replacement in Workers' Compensation Programs, published by the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research in 2004. Dr. Hunt performed a "core review" of the quality of service delivery by the Workers' Compensation Board of British Columbia in 2002. This study was part of a government wide review of all of the core services and systems of administrative justice in the Province.
